Quick answer: where is Graham in Gothic 1 Remake?

The Gothic 1 Remake Graham location is inside the Old Camp, along the camp's working and trading area rather than out in the wilderness. Enter through the main gate, follow the central path toward the camp's stalls and brazier, and look for the mapmaker's small working area near the market activity. If you are using a full interactive map, search the Old Camp first; you do not need to cross the Mining Colony to find him.

Graham matters because he is not only a named NPC. He is the early map seller who can give you a physical reference for the Old Camp and the wider Colony. The best purchase depends on what you are doing: buy the local map when you want to orient yourself inside the camp, and consider the wider Colony map when you are ready to connect camp roads, mines, caves and quest routes. The exact ore cost can vary with your game state and should be checked in the live trade window rather than copied from an old guide.

This page is narrower than the existing Gothic 1 Remake map and locations guide. That guide explains how to read the whole Mining Colony; this one answers the stuck-player question: where is Graham, what does he sell, and which map should you buy first?

How to recognize the route to Graham

Use landmarks and camp activity instead of trying to match a perfect screenshot from a different build.

Route from the Old Camp gate to Graham

Start at the Old Camp gate and keep the palisade on your side as you move toward the busier interior. The goal is not to climb toward the watchtowers or leave through a side path. Stay on the main stone route until the camp opens into a cluster of tables, firelight, traders and working shelters.

When you reach the market-like area, slow down and scan named NPCs. Graham's position can be easy to miss because the Old Camp is visually busy and several characters stand near trade or crafting props. Talk to him directly; a map item will appear through the normal trade dialogue, not as a glowing quest objective.

If you still cannot find him, leave the camp interior, wait for a new time block, and return through the same gate. This is safer than running around the Colony or treating an absent NPC as proof that the quest is broken.

  1. Enter the Old Camp through the main guarded gate.
  2. Follow the central path toward the camp's stalls, brazier and trading activity.
  3. Check named NPCs around the working shelters and map table; do not search the wilderness first.
  4. Open dialogue with Graham and inspect the map entries in the trade window.
  5. If he is missing, wait or sleep, reload the area and search the same camp route again.

Map purchase decision

Graham vs Dexter: which map should you buy?

The useful comparison is map coverage, timing and convenience—not an invented fixed price.

Graham is the natural first stop because his Old Camp position makes him easy to revisit and because the local and Colony map choices answer two different problems. The Old Camp map helps with the camp itself; the Colony map is the more useful purchase when you are planning routes between camps, mines and wilderness landmarks.

Dexter can offer a Colony map in the market area, sometimes at a lower price than Graham. Check both offers when you have not yet committed your ore, but do not make a dangerous cross-colony trip only to save a small amount. If you already reached Graham safely, buy the map that solves your immediate navigation problem and keep the broader price comparison for a later visit.

The map is a navigation aid, not a replacement for the journal. A map can show where a route or region belongs, but it cannot tell you whether your current faction standing, chapter, equipment or NPC schedule makes the trip safe. Use the map with the quest list and order guide when an objective sends you into a new area.

Troubleshooting

Why Graham or the map may seem missing

Run these low-risk checks before abandoning the route or searching an unrelated cave.

You are outside the Old Camp

Graham is not a wilderness map marker. Return through the main gate and search the enclosed working/trading area before opening an external map.

You searched at the wrong time

NPC schedules can move people a short distance. Wait or sleep, reload the area, and repeat the same landmark route in daylight.

You expected a quest objective

Buying a map is a merchant interaction, not necessarily a highlighted quest step. Speak to Graham and inspect the trade list directly.

You bought the wrong coverage

The Old Camp map and Colony map solve different navigation problems. Recheck the item name before leaving the trade window.

You are using an old price guide

Prices and inventory can differ between builds or progression states. Treat the current trade window as authoritative for your save.

You opened a spoiler-heavy map too early

An interactive map is useful for a named blocker, but it can reveal caves, chests and NPC positions that the physical map intentionally leaves for discovery.

Quick answers

Gothic 1 Remake Graham FAQ

Short answers for the map and NPC searches that lead players to the wrong part of the Colony.

Graham is inside the Old Camp, near the camp's working and trading area. Enter through the main gate, follow the central route toward the stalls and brazier, and check the named NPCs around the mapmaker's work area.

Graham can sell an Old Camp map and a wider Colony map. Choose the local map for camp orientation and the Colony map when you need a broader reference for roads, camps, mines and wilderness routes.

Dexter can offer the Colony map at a lower price in the market area, but the exact cost should be checked in the current trade window. Do not rely on a fixed number from an older guide.

Confirm that you are inside the Old Camp, return through the main gate, wait or sleep for a new schedule block, reload the area and search the same trading route. A missing map dialogue is not automatically a broken quest.

There is no universal requirement to buy it before joining. It is most useful before longer cross-colony trips, so compare your current ore, route knowledge and spoiler preference rather than delaying a story decision only for the map.

No. This page explains Graham's location and map purchase choice. For the wider Mining Colony route, use the map and locations guide; use a community interactive map only when you need an exact blocker lookup.
